Deb told me about this this morning and then showed me this video of a dad showing his 15-year old daughter the consequences of her actions, in this case badmouthing her parents on Facebook.

Apparently Dad is an IT professional and after spending a few hours and a bunch of cash updating her laptop he found her Facebook post. To say he wasn't amused is an understatement. Apparently this video has gone viral and is making the rounds, both on Facebook and in the media.

I discussed this with one of my co-workers and he thought the guy went overboard. But then my co-worker doesn't have teenaged daughters...but he will in a little over 6 years. I think then he'll change his tune.

Do I think he went too far? I can't say. But if this wasn't the first time she pulled something like this, and according to what her dad said it wasn't, then maybe his course of action was the right one.

OWS Rant - Adam Corolla

I promised myself I wasn't going to give any more coverage to the Occupy Wall Street protests, but this was too good to pass up. This came by way of my friend at work, Cathy.

Adam Corolla nails it when it comes to the OWS protesters. As Cathy writes, "This is what happens when you have a generation of 'No one is wrong, no one loses, and we all get trophies.' " (Warning: Strong Language.)

A few highlights of Adam's rant, all of which with I happen to agree.

"They're feeling shame. They've been shamed by life because they haven't been prepared for life. They've had so much smoke blown up their...collective asses, by the time they get out in the real world and they realize the real world doesn't give a f**k about where you're from or about what your mommy said you were, or how pretty you are, or what you do."

"All those lies that were told to you by your parents about how special are and how no one was created like you...doesn't mean s**t when you get to the real world and you're just looked at as Peon #27 who's putting in an application."

"Now your plan is to come back and throw a brick at my window. That's your plan...it's this envy and shame and there's going to be a lot more of it."

"We are creating a group of self-entitled monsters."

Indeed.
Taking a look at many of the protesters involved with #OWS, you realize most of them are quite young, generally college age. This is quite telling as in the past it has been the so-called 'enlightened' youth that have led protests and revolutions. But in this case their cause célèbre is not one of justice or rights or racial harmony. Instead it's borne of a belief in entitlement to things of which they have not earned. In other words, they want someone else to pay for the things they want.

Bill Whittle does a pretty good job of explaining what it is the protesters want: More. He also tells them what it is they need: To grow up.

I have to ask this question about the City of San Francisco: Are they nuts out there, hypocrites, or both?

Looking at the following two stories, I have to say it's the third option.

First, we have to ask that if San Francisco is a supposed liberal utopia, then why do they have so many homeless people? Could it be because far too many of the do-as-I-say-and-not-as-I-do progressives can't be bothered to actually help them out and prefer to leave it to "the government" to handle? Oh, wait, they are the government in San Francisco! I guess we can see how far progressive compassion really goes when they find they have to spend their own money rather than someone else's money to provide the services they believe is owed to the downtrodden, even when they're the ones who helped make them downtrodden in the first place.

Second, if the City by the Bay is so tolerant and supportive of homosexuals, then why did a staff member of museum hosting an exhibit of a well known lesbian artist ask a lesbian couple to leave because they were holding hands? That's not very tolerant, is it? Would they have asked a heterosexual couple to leave as well? Does the museum have a no PDA (Public Display of Affection) rule, or were they merely offended by a lesbian couple holding hands?

Reading the comments to the first linked post is telling, if for no other reason that a number of denizens of the Bay Area commented that San Francisco is not as friendly or as tolerant as advertised. Color me surprised.

She Really Likes Cats

This is supposedly an eHarmony bio video. Watch it and you decide: Real, or fake?

I have to admit that I kind of feel the same way she does about kitties (though may not quite so intensely). After all, we have eight cats here!

I Needed That

No inciteful post tonight because BeezleBub and I were out on the lake this evening.

It was such a nice day that we decided to celebrate the last part of his birthday with a trip out on the lake. On the way to The Boat we picked up one of his friends who works at the farm.

Rafael is from Brazil and in the time he's been in the US he's never been out on a boat, so BeezleBub asked if we could take him.

What I thought would be a quick jaunt out on the lake lasted almost 2 hours. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I enjoyed every minute of it. But after getting back I had absolutely no ambition (or energy) to write anything profound, semi-profound, or completely inane. So instead you got this.

Until tomorrow, when regular blogging will resume.

Uh Oh...

As much as I complain about my staff, they do have a few good traits. For one thing, they give great massages. As proof, here's picture of me at the end of one of my post-prandial massages.

A massage always helps my digestion.

At least none of the interlopers are so privileged! Seniority does have its perks....

More Interlopers

It's taken a while, but I finally managed to grab some time on one of the staff members laptop. After all, it is only fair that I show you what it is I have to put up with.

As I've mentioned previously, I have to share my domain with five interlopers. I've exposed three of so far. These two are the last.

The Twins 747x617.jpg These are the twins, Pip on the left and Henry on the right. They arrived over the summer, causing all kinds of fuss and consternation. My staff paid so much attention to them that they forgot their real tasks - taking care of me and my wishes!

See what I have to put up with?!!

I've mentioned the interlopers making their home in my realm, but far too many of you out there aren't acquainted with them. I figured it was best if you could see them, to understand my dilemma, to realize why it is I am disturbed that my staff has fallen under their spell.

Behold!

This one is Cole, trying to fool you by showing how 'harmless' and 'endearing' he is. But he's neither. He's just a suck up, playing at being lovey-dovey.

Getting Comfortable.jpg
And this one is Hilda. They're always fussing over her, saying how cute she is. On more that one occasion I've heard staffers say of her, "She's so fluffy!" As if being fluffy is a good thing.

This Is MY Box.jpg
Oh, crap...gotta go...they'll know something's up if they catch me at the keyboard!!

Don't let on that you know what's going on around here....

Me, Share? No Way!!

While I've talked about the inequities of my having to share my supper dish with a bunch of interlopers, I've never actually shown you the horror of what I must put up with. Just take a look! See?! Five of them!! FIVE!! I have to muscle my way between them to even nibble on one morsel. Just who do they think they are?

Clutter Of Cats.jpg

You'd think the housekeeping staff would be able to handle this properly, but no, they're too damn lazy and figure I won't mind sharing my food. Well guess what? They're wrong!!

The worst of the bunch is Minnie, an interloper that came into my realm about a year ago. She's so cutsie pie that she makes me want to hack up an hairball! She looks so innocent, doesn't she? But don't let that fool you...because it doesn't fool me!

See what I mean?

Ha-RUMPH!!!

It's About Time

It's finally over! All this foolish human 'campaigning', when everyone knows I'm the only one that matters!

Now that it's all over and done with, my staff can pay attention to me, as they should have all along.

All those ads on the stupid TV did nothing but upset the staff...and give me a headache worse than a catnip hangover...

..ohhhh, my aching head!!!

I Have Returned...

Despite rumors to the contrary, I'm back!

Oh, the housekeeping staff may have been able to keep me from posting about what's really been going on around here, but I finally was able to work my way past their passwords and firewalls. It's time for me to bring everyone one of my fans up to date.

First, in the time since I last wrote, two more interlopers have joined the household, making it even more difficult for the staff to meet my requirements. I have to share my realm with five, count 'em, FIVE other Feline-Americans! It's intolerable, I tell you! What's worse is that I've been reduced to sharing my supper dish with them! And don't even ask me about the litter box!!

Second, in case you've forgotten my magnificent visage, let me remind you. You may want to blow up this picture of me to fit somewhere on your wall so you can worship me as is my due....
