Walking to mass last Sunday at St. Charles in Meredith and seeing a car with an Obama bumpersticker left me shaking my head.
The man's an endorser of crazed killers, most definitely of babies, under the lie of women's reproductive freedom. Most incongruous it seems to me for a practicing Catholic.
I have repeatedly seen priests get all exorcised over capital punishment, which is not illicit, while remaining on the mute side of the preeminent moral issue of our time, abortion.
Perhaps if bishops followed their playbook, the Catholic Catechism, they'd "man up" and have more clarity, like the outstanding bishop in Green Bay, Wisc., His Excellency David Ricken, who reminds his flock what is at stake. And he does it in a way that is compassionate, loving, and truthful--even if it may prove unpopular with some.
With more Bishop Ricken's, would have more states like Pennsylvania and New Hampshire voting for the pro-life candidate. Alas, we likely won't.
